Mark Pilgrim recently blogged about Gobuntu's rentention of Mozilla's Firefox web browser, including the non-Free files that led to the removal of Firefox from Debian's distribution. Maybe I'll wait a while before testing out Gobuntu myself.
Mark Pilgrim expressed his disappointment with the inclusion of Mozilla's Firefox web browser with Gobuntu, due to the fact that it retains the same non-Free components that led to its removal from Debian. In doing so, he points to this bug highlighting the issue. What makes his disappointment all the more pertinent is the list of other FOSS applications that have been trademarked, but do not contain the same restrictions as Firefox. Thus, it makes one wonder if Mozilla is using trademarks as a front while it backpeddles out of the FOSS movement. Next thing you know, they'll be releasing binary-only versions of their software.
Recently, a Blue GNU user suggested I give Gobuntu a try. I will - when Gobuntu is finally totally Free.
