BOSTON, MA, USA — May 1, 2008 — The gNewSense project today announced the release of DeltaH[1], the second version of their all free-software GNU/Linux distribution.

The issue of binary kernel blobs cropped up on the gNewSense Mailing list recently. The discussion I saw was friendly enough, but the real benefit for me was that I got to see just why kernel blobs are so, well... contentious.

Both Gobuntu and gNewSense fulfill the desires of the most exigent users when it is about respecting their freedoms. Almost identical at the software level, these two distributions differ in the relation they maintain with Ubuntu at the project level.

A friend of mine, Roy Schestowitz, has published an article over at Earthweb, about gNewsense and Gobuntu.

In the wee hours of the morning, while I was sleeping soundly, all snuggled up next to my wife...

Sometimes I just gotta wonder about GNU/Linux and wi-fi...Maybe you can help.

I gave gNewSense a spin this weekend. It's mostly a good experience, but I am sticking with Debian for now. Here's why.
