Blue GNU has been essentially out of operation for the past two weeks, due to circumstances beyond our control. We appreciate Falko for providing our readers a little something of interest in the meantime. Please look for us to start posting again Friday morning.

Blue GNU will be replacing Windows for a local user and is anticipating some interesting new toys, not to mention the possibility of reviewing a great guru's newest book.

Blue Gnu Media & Technology announced today that its flagship service, Blue GNU, has seen strong, steady growth in readership for the first quarter, a positive impact on various Free Software projects, as well as new clients for its advertising and marketing services.

After marathon workweeks since returning from Columbus - weeks of 65-76 hours (not counting my Blue GNU time) - I'll be taking the night off tonight. Please don't hold it against me. Unfortunately, I the community hasn't chipped in to enable me to do this full-time, so I have to put the time in where the money pays.

Here is the presentation I gave at the Ohio LinuxFest (as-is). This means you can browse through the notes view to check out some additional notes I may not have had time to cover.

Hate to have to do it, but I went and implemented one of those stupid captchas for Drupal. I came back from a weekend of fun at the penguin colony, only to discover a dozen false registrations.

Whew! What a weekend it was at the Ohio LinuxFest in Columbus, Ohio! Between the free (but not Free) beer, having to choose between apparently popular sessions, and the wide variety of booths, the biggest problem was choosing which fun to have.

While I'm up at Ohio LinuxFest, giving my presentation on Marketing FOSS, I'm not exactly sure what will become of my Internet connectivity. Not to mention it's really hard to run a news site while simultaneously hanging out with all the wonderful folks at OLF. So I've asked Eileen Bonfiglio to fill in for me this weekend.

I setup a basic t-shirt over at Zazzle for Blue GNU fans. It has the Gnu head, with the words "Run with the herd".

I posted a sample logo, this evening to see what our readers think. We would love to know what you think!

Blue GNU has launched a simple poll aimed at understanding whether and how FOSS projects market themselves. The 4-week project is an effort to help the community understand marketing and its impact on the progress of various projects.

I just received an e-mail this morning saying my presentation, Marketing FOSS, has been accepted, and I responded to confirm.

At some, as yet to be determined time in the morning, our hosting service will be upgrading the MySQL server to hopefully improve the performance of the site.

Well, the Blue GNU launch today got off to a slow start. And I mean really slow! But how did the day end?

Former LXer editor-in-Chief launches Free Software News site - website and office powered by Free Software.

It has been frequently debated whether businesses can succeed using a strictly Free/Open Source business model, and what kinds of businesses can succeed using only Free/Open Source Software.
Blue GNU is a Free Software news site, but is currently under construction. We will announce our launch in the very near future. Please return in the next few weeks (or days) to see where we stand.
